Web3 X Hanoi: A Day of Food, Culture, and Connection

Hanoi, you stole our hearts—and our taste buds! Last weekend, the Web3 X Investment Fund brought together 30 brilliant minds—developers, builders, VCs, and partners—for an unforgettable day of culinary delights and iconic sights in Vietnam’s vibrant capital. Dubbed the Web3 X Hanoi Food Tour & Tourist Attraction, this wasn’t just a meetup; it was a sensory adventure through Hanoi’s bustling streets and storied landmarks. We here to spill all the delicious details!

Our day kicked off with a steaming bowl of Bun Thang, Hanoi’s soul-warming noodle soup. Picture delicate rice noodles swimming in a fragrant chicken broth, topped with shredded chicken, egg, and a sprinkle of herbs that scream freshness. We gathered at a cozy local spot, chopsticks clinking as our group of Web3 innovators swapped ideas between slurps. The broth? A masterpiece. The vibe? Electric. Nothing bonds a group like sharing a meal that’s been perfected over generations.

Next, we ventured to the birthplace of egg coffee—a Hanoi classic that’s equal parts drink and dessert. At a quaint café tucked in the Old Quarter, we sipped this velvety concoction of whipped egg yolk and robust Vietnamese coffee. It’s like drinking a cloud with a caffeine kick! As we savored every frothy sip, conversations about blockchain and decentralized dreams flowed as smoothly as the coffee itself. Pro tip: if you’re in Hanoi, don’t skip this liquid gold.

Lunch called us to Cha Ca La Vong, the legendary dish that’s practically a Hanoi institution. We crowded around sizzling pans of turmeric-marinated fish, grilled tableside and served with dill, noodles, and a medley of fresh herbs. The communal act of assembling our plates—piling on the greens, squeezing lime, and dipping into fish sauce—felt like a metaphor for the collaborative spirit of Web3. Laughter and debates about the future of finance filled the air, seasoned with the aroma of perfectly cooked fish.

With bellies full and spirits high, we traded food for history at the Maison Centrale, better known as the Hoa Lo Prison. This sobering landmark, once a French colonial prison, told stories of resilience and struggle. Walking through its gates, we marveled at Hanoi’s layered past, from colonial times to the Vietnam War. It was a humbling reminder of how history shapes the present—a fitting backdrop for a group dreaming up the future of tech.As the sun dipped low, we wandered Hanoi’s lively streets, soaking in the hum of motorbikes, the glow of lanterns, and the energy of a city that never slows down.

The Web3 X Hanoi Food Tour wasn’t just about tasting local flavors or ticking off tourist spots; it was about connection—between people, ideas, and a city that’s as forward-thinking as it is rooted in tradition.Hanoi, you fed our bodies and inspired our minds. To my fellow Web3 explorers: here’s to building the future, one bowl of Bun Thang at a time. Until the next adventure! Want to join the next Web3 X event or explore Hanoi’s culinary scene?
